Psalms 82

The psalmist, having exhorted the judges,

Psalms 82:1 {A Psalme of Asaph.} God standeth in the Congregation of the mightie: hee iudgeth among the gods. Psalms 82:2 How long will yee iudge vniustly: and accept the persons of the wicked? Selah. Psalms 82:3 Defend the poore and fatherlesse: doe iustice to the afflicted and needie. Psalms 82:4 Deliuer the poore and needy: rid them out of the hand of the wicked.

and reproved their negligence,

Psalms 82:5 They know not, neither wil they vnderstand; they walke on in darknes: all the foundations of the earth are out of course. Psalms 82:6 I haue said, Ye [are] gods: and all of you [are] children of the most High: Psalms 82:7 But ye shall die like men, and fall like one of the Princes.

prayeth God to judge.

Psalms 82:8 Arise, O God, iudge the earth: for thou shalt inherite all nations.
