Because God is truly glorious,
Psalms 115:1 Not vnto vs (O Lorde) not vnto vs, but vnto thy name geue þe prayse, for thy louing mercy, & for thy truthes sake. Psalms 115:2 Wherfore shall þe Heathen saye: where is now their God? Psalms 115:3 As for oure God, he is in heauen, he hath done whatsoeuer pleased him.
and idols are vanity,
Psalms 115:4 Their ydoles are syluer and gold, euen the worcke of mens handes. Psalms 115:5 They haue mouth, and speake not: eyes haue they, and se not. Psalms 115:6 They haue eares, & heare not: noses haue they, and smell not. Psalms 115:7 They haue handes and handle not: fete haue they, and walke not, nether speake they thorow their throte. Psalms 115:8 They that make them, are lyke vnto them, and so are all soch as put their trust in them.
he exhorteth to confidence in God.
Psalms 115:9 But Israel trust thou in the Lord, he his their succoure & defence. Psalms 115:10 Ye house of Aaron put youre trust in the Lorde: he is their helper, and defender. Psalms 115:11 Ye that feare the Lorde, put youre trust in the Lord, he is their helper and defender.
God is to be praised for his blessings.
Psalms 115:12 The Lorde hath bene myndfull of vs, and he shall blesse vs: euen he shall blesse the house of Israel, he shall blesse þe house of Aaron. Psalms 115:13 He shall blesse them that feare the Lorde, both small and great. Psalms 115:14 The Lorde shall encrease you more and more: you, & youre children. Psalms 115:15 Ye are the blessed of the Lord, which made heauen & earth. Psalms 115:16 All the whole heauens are the Lordes, the earth hath he geuen vnto þe children of men. Psalms 115:17 The deed prayse not þe (O Lord) nether all they þt go downe in to the sylence. Psalms 115:18 But we wyll prayse the Lorde, from thys tyme forth for euermore. Prayse the Lorde.
