By the unfitness of the vine branch for any work,
Ezekiel 15:1 The worde of the Lorde came vnto me, sayinge: Ezekiel 15:2 Thou sonne of man: What commeth of the vyne amonge al other trees? & of þe vyne stock amonge al other timbre of the groaue? Ezekiel 15:3 Do men take wode of it, to make any worcke withall? Or maye there a nayle be made of it, to hange any thyng vpon: Ezekiel 15:4 Beholde, it is caste in the fyre to be brente, the fyre consumeth both the endes of it, the myddest is brente to asshes. Is it mete then for any worcke? No. Ezekiel 15:5 Seyng then that it was mete for no worke being whole: muche lesse maye there any thing be made of it, when the fyre hath consumed & brente it.
is shewed the rejection of Jerusalem.
Ezekiel 15:6 And therfore thus sayth the Lorde God: Like as I cast the vyne into the fyre for to be brent, as other trees of the wode. Euen so wyll I do with them that dwell in Ierusalem, Ezekiel 15:7 & set my face against them: they shall go out from the fyre, & yet the fyre shall consume them. Then shall ye knowe, that I am the Lorde, when I set my face agaynst them, Ezekiel 15:8 and make the lande waste, because they haue so sore offended, sayeth the Lorde God.
