An exhortation to repentance.
Hosea 14:1 O Israel, turne the nowe, vnto the Lorde thy God, for thou hast taken a greate fall thorow thy wickednes. Hosea 14:2 Take these wordes with you, when ye turne to the Lorde, & saye vnto him: O forgeue vs all our sinnes, receyue vs gracyouslye, and then wyl we offre the bullockes of oure lyppes vnto the. Hosea 14:3 Assur shalbe no more oure helper, nether wyl we ryde vpon horses any more. As for the worckes of our handes, we wil no more cal vpon them: For it is thou that arte oure God, thou shewest euer mercye vnto the fatherlesse.
A promise of God's blessing.
Hosea 14:4 O (yf they wolde do thys) I shulde heale theyr sores: yea wyth al my herte wolde I loue them: so that my wrath shuld cleane be turned awaye from them. Hosea 14:5 Yea, I wolde be vnto Israel as the dewe, and he shulde growe as the lylye, and hys rote shulde breake oute as Lybanus. Hosea 14:6 His braunches shulde sprede oute abroade, and be as fayre as the olyue tre, and smell sa Lybanus. Hosea 14:7 They that dwell vnder hys shadowe, shulde come agayne, and grow vp as the corne, and floryshe as the vyne: he shulde haue as good a name, as the wyne of Lybanus. Hosea 14:8 O Ephraim what haue I to do wt Idols anye more? I wyll graciously heare him, and lede hym forthe. I will be vnto the as a grene Fyrre tre, vpon me shalt thou find thy trute. Hosea 14:9 Who so is wyse, shall vnderstande thys: & he that is ryght instructe, wyll regarde it. For the wayes of the Lorde are ryghteous, suche as be Godlye wil walcke in them: As for the wicked, they wyll stomble therin.
