Proverbs 8

The fame,

Proverbs 8:1 Doth not wysdome crye? doeth not vnderstanding put forth her voyce? Proverbs 8:2 Standeth she not in the hye places in the stretes & ways Proverbs 8:3 doth she not crie before þe whole citie, and in the gates where men go out & in? Proverbs 8:4 It is you, O ye men (saieth she) whom I cal? Vnto you (O ye chyldren of men) lyft I vp my voyce. Proverbs 8:5 Take hede vnto knowlege O ye ignoraunt, be wyse in hert O ye foles.

and evidency of wisdom.

Proverbs 8:6 Geue eare, for I will speake of great matters, and open my lyppes to tell thinges that be right. Proverbs 8:7 For my throte shalbe talking of the trueth, & my lyppes abhorre vngodlinesse. Proverbs 8:8 All þe wordes of my mouth are righteous, there is no frowardenesse nor falsede therin. Proverbs 8:9 They are all playne to suche as will vnderstande, and ryght to them that fynde knowlege.

The excellency,

Proverbs 8:10 Receiue my doctrine therfore, & not siluer: & my knowledge, more then fyne golde. Proverbs 8:11 For wysdome is more worth then precious stones, yea, all the thinges that thou canst desire, are not to be compared vnto it.

the nature,

Proverbs 8:12 I wysdome haue my dwelling wt knowledge, & prudent counsaill is myne owne. Proverbs 8:13 With me is the feare of the Lorde, and the eschuyng of euell. As for pryde, dysdayne, & euell waye, & a mouth that speaketh wicked thinges, I vtterly abhorre them. Proverbs 8:14 I can geue counsayl, & be a gyde: I haue vnderstanding I haue strength.

the power,

Proverbs 8:15 Thorow me, kinges reygn: thorow me, prynces make iust lawes. Proverbs 8:16 Thorow me, lordes beare rule, and all iudges of the earth execute iudgement. Proverbs 8:17 I am louyngevnto those that loue me, & they that seke me early, shall fynde me.

the riches,

Proverbs 8:18 Riches and honoure are with me, yea, excellent goodes & righteousnes. Proverbs 8:19 My frute is better then golde & precious stone, & myne encrease more worth then fyne siluer. Proverbs 8:20 I walke in the waye of righteousnes, and in the strete of iudgement. Proverbs 8:21 That I may sende prosperitie to those that loue me, & to encrease their treasure.

and the eternity of wisdom.

Proverbs 8:22 The Lord hym self had me in possession in the begynning of hys wayes, or euer he beganne hys workes afore tyme. Proverbs 8:23 I haue bene ordeyned from euerlasting, & from the beginning or euer the earthe was made. Proverbs 8:24 When I was borne, there were nether depthes nor springs of water. Proverbs 8:25 Before the foundacions of the mountaynes were layed, yea, before al hylles was I borne. Proverbs 8:26 The earth & all that is vpon the earth was not yet made, no not the grounde it selfe. Proverbs 8:27 For when he made the heauens, I was present: when he sette vp the depthes in ordre: Proverbs 8:28 when he hanged the cloudes aboue: when he fastened the sprynges of the depe: Proverbs 8:29 When he shut the sea within certayn boundes, that the waters should not go ouer their markes. When he layed the foundacions of the earth Proverbs 8:30 I was with hym, ordering all thinges, delytynge dayly, and reioysinge all waye before hym. Proverbs 8:31 As for the rounde compase of his worlde, I make it ioyfull: for my delyte is to be among the chyldren of men.

Wisdom is to be desired for the blessedness it bringeth.

Proverbs 8:32 Therfore herken vnto me, O ye chyldren, for blessed are they þt kepe my wayes. Proverbs 8:33 O geue eare vnto nurtour, be wyse, and refuse it not. Proverbs 8:34 Blessed is the man that heareth me, watchynge dayly at my gates, & geuynge attendaunce at the postes of my dores. Proverbs 8:35 For who so findeth me, findeth life and shall obtayne fauour of the Lorde. Proverbs 8:36 But who so offendeth agaynste me, hurteth hys owne soule. All they that hate me, are the louers of death.
