Psalms 129

An exhortation to praise God for saving Israel in their great afflictions.

Psalms 129:1 {The song of the steares.} Many tyme haue they foughte agaynst me fro my youth vp (may Israel now saye.) Psalms 129:2 Yea, many a tyme haue they fought gaainst me fro my youth vp, but thei haue not ouercome me. Psalms 129:3 The plowers plowed vpon my backe, & made longe forowes. Psalms 129:4 But the righteous lorde hath hewen the yocke of the vngodly in peces.

The haters of the Church are cursed.

Psalms 129:5 Let them be confounded & turned backewarde, as many as haue euell will at Syon. Psalms 129:6 Let them be euen as the haye vppon the house toppes, whyche wythereth afore it be pluckte vp. Psalms 129:7 Wherof the mower fylleth not his hande, neither he that byndeth vp the sheaues, hys bosome. Psalms 129:8 So þt they which go by, saye not so much as: þe Lord prospere you, we wish you good lucke in the name of the Lord.
